Legendary Ventriloquist Team Willie Tyler & Lester to Perform at Black Oak Casino

Ventriloquist Willie Tyler and his sidekick Lester will bring their hilarious act to Black Oak Casino next month. Tyler and Lester have received national acclaim, appearing on shows such as The Late Show with David Letterman, The Tonight Show, The Jimmy Kimmel Show, as well as numerous commercials. Their act regularly travels to all 50 states, and they’ve worked with such greats as Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Dolly Parton, and Whoopi Goldberg.

Tyler has been performing for decades, starting when he was just 10 years old and saw a magazine ad for a correspondence course on ventriloquism. After sending away for the information, he began practicing throwing his voice on one of his sister’s dolls. Later, he used a Jerry Mahoney doll that he painted brown. Lester got his name when Willie Tyler’s brother told him, "There’s a guy in study hall named Lester, and he looks just like your dummy." Today, if you ask Lester how old he is, his response is, "Saw me open and count my rings!"

Willie Tyler and Lester made their debut on The Merv Griffin Show in 1970 and later toured with many Motown greats like the Supremes, The Temptations, Marvin Gaye, and Stevie Wonder.

Willie Tyler and Lester will perform at Black Oak Casino on Thursday, March 4th at 8pm. Tickets are $10 for the show. If you are interested in interviewing Willie Tyler or running a promotion in conjunction with the event, please contact Diana Jackin at (559) 472-7148.
