What better way to demonstrate how brightly California Shines! than by highlighting the goodwill and generosity of California’s people. The Nation’s Christmas Tree is coming from the Stanislaus forest this year and will be trucked across country to Washington DC. Stops will be made at many locations in California before it heads to Washington. At each event we attend and during the course of the tree’s journey throughout California later this year, we will be spreading the Holiday Spirit of California by collecting non-perishable food to share with those less fortunate than ourselves.
This activity is based on the premise of performing acts of kindness as a remembrance of kindnesses you have received in the past. Our Pay It Forward project is a food drive that will be a gift from the people of California to the people of Gallup New Mexico (one of the poorest communities in our nation). Donations from areas around the state will be picked up during the trees 7 day tour of California in November and delivered to the Gallup community as “The People’s Tree” is en-route to Washington D.C..
